Additional Work Procedure

Sometimes, during a diagnostic, repair, or service, it becomes clear that extra work is required. In these cases, it’s essential that you communicate clearly with the customer and follow the correct process for quoting and invoicing.

1. Communicate with the Customer

If you discover that the job requires additional labour or parts:

  • Inform the customer as soon as possible.
  • Clearly explain what extra work is needed and why.
  • Provide a detailed quote covering both labour time and parts.

2. Creating the Quote

Quotes for additional work must be created within the BookMechanic platform. When building your quote:

  • Enter the estimated labour time.
  • Include prices for all required parts.
  • Keep in mind that BookMechanic applies a 20% commission on the value of parts.

⚠️ Ensure your quote reflects this so there are no unexpected charges or shortfalls.

3. Customer Approval

Only proceed with additional work if the customer has agreed to the full quote.

  • Once approved, complete the work as quoted.
  • Do not start any additional repairs without customer consent.

4. Invoicing the Additional Work

After all agreed work has been completed:

  • Submit a single invoice that includes both the original job and the additional work.
  • This invoice should be processed through the BookMechanic.uk booking platform.
