Step by Step
Step 1: Finding a mechanic
- Start a search
- Go to the homepage and you’ll see two main boxes: Service and Location.
- Service: Start typing the repair or service you need (e.g. “brake pads”, “full service”). Suggestions will appear — choose the closest match.
- Location: Start typing your town, city or postcode and choose from the drop down menu. You can also choose “Near me” if you want mechanics close by.
- Tip: use a combination of service + location to get the most accurate results.

Step 2: Use filters to narrow results
- If you want someone who can come to you, choose the mobile mechanic filter.
- Once results load you can filter by:
- Rating (3/4/5 stars),
- Distance,
- Verified mechanics,
- Mechanics with online appointment bookers.
- Tip: If nothing is selected Verified mechanics will be shown first followed by Appointment booker, Rating, Distance

Step 3: View mechanic profiles
- Click a listing to open the mechanic’s profile. Profiles show: services offered, pricing (if published), customer reviews, photos, and an “About” section.

- There’s a button to message the mechanic if you want to ask questions before booking.
- Use the View service and prices button to view the mechanics prices and bookings can be made directly from inside this section

Booking a Mechanic
Step 1. Select services
- On the profile, open the booking tool ( select the view prices and services button).

- Select your service required from the mechanics listed services

- Each mechanic has different services and prices available
Step 2. Select a date and time
- Select a requested date
- Select a requested time

- fill in contact details

- Note: The date and time are requested and not guaranteed, most mechanics will do their best to facilitate.
Step 3. Confirm details and pay
- Review the booking summary: services, vehicle details, date/time, price estimate and mechanic’s terms.
- Payment options show on screen. We use secure Stripe checkout (and third-party options like Klarna where shown). As the booking platform we process the payment and it is distributed to the mechanic according to our payout rules.

Step 4. If an Alternative Time/Date is Offered
- Sometimes a mechanic may want to take the job but can’t meet your original request.
- In that case, you’ll receive a proposed alternative time or date from your mechanic.
- You can:
- Accept the proposed new time.
- Decline and bookmechanic.uk will find another mechanic .
- Cancel or reschedule entirely from your customer dashboard.

Step 5. Job completion, invoice and review
- When the work is done the mechanic will mark the job complete and provide an booking invoice. You’ll receive an email copy and an option to download the invoice from your dashboard.
- The mechanic will provide there invoice after work is completed
- Leave a rating and review to help other customers.

Step 6: Cancellations
- Cancellation rules are set per mechanic and shown at booking. If you need to cancel, do it via your booking dashboard. Refunds follow the mechanic’s stated policy and our platform rules.
Step 7: Leave a Review
- Help others by leaving a review based on your experience.

- Your feedback helps us maintain high standards on the platform.
